Outside work I do two things. I keep training, at workshops and conferences and on the short courses that come up, because standing still for a year in this field shows. And since February 2026 I have been accredited as an INCIBE cyber-volunteer, which means running free awareness workshops for whoever asks.
Volunteering
What I give. The cyber-volunteer part is current and the community work ran from 2016 to 2019, but the reason for being in both is the same.
INCIBE cyber-volunteer
2026 · ongoingCantabriaINCIBE
INCIBE, Spain’s national cybersecurity institute, accredited me as a cyber-volunteer in February 2026, after the training and the programme review. I run free awareness workshops for schools, families, associations and educators: school cyberbullying, privacy and digital identity, and fraud for adults. The first two sessions were at a school in Cantabria, one with pupils and one with adults. I am available to any centre or association in the region, and an email is enough.
2016–2019México, Colombia, España, Portugal, Francia y Reino Unido
Almost four years of stays across six countries, during free time and holidays. Food distribution and logistics, visiting people who were ill or in vulnerable situations, and organising community activities. It started in Mexico, where I am from, then a month-long stopover in Colombia on the way to Spain, and the rest went out from here. It left me two things I still use: solving problems with few resources, and getting along with people nothing like me.
Six stops over almost four years. Pick one to read what it was.
Continuing education
What I take in. These are the ones with a photo, and there are more workshops and short courses without one.
INCIBE ethical hacking workshop
2025CantabriaINCIBE
Hands-on ethical hacking workshop with physical kit: a board with an antenna for the radio spectrum, a pocket analyser and a couple more of the gadgets that fit in a pocket. What helped me most was seeing up close how little it takes to read what a device gives away without meaning to.
INCIBE Emprende
2025CantabriaINCIBE
Workshop from INCIBE’s cybersecurity entrepreneurship programme, with the industry-news part that tends to be missing when you study on your own. I went to understand how you build something around this, which was the question I had with Argos half-finished.
AsturCON 2025
2025AsturiasAsturCON
An information security conference in Asturias. I went as an attendee, and a couple of ideas from it ended up in my own projects. Going to these things is the fastest way to see where the field is actually heading rather than where the internet says it is.
What people say about working with me
